Old Fashioned Made With Simple Syrup

Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 oz Bourbon like Elijah Craig or Evan Williams Single Barrel
  • 1 stripe Orange Zest using a vegetable peeler
  • 2 teaspoons  simple syrup  or you can use a sugar cube and muddle it
  • 3 dashes  Aromatic Bitters like Angostura
  • Garnish with a Dark Morello Cherry or Maraschino

Method
 

  1. In the bottom of a glass, pour in simple syrup and add three dashes of bitters. 
  2. Add a block of ice and 2.5 oz of bourbon, swirl.
  3. Peel a stripe of orange zest, avoiding the bitter white pith of the orange
  4. Fold or twist the zest near the rim of the glass to release the oils and then add it to the glass.
  5. Garnish with a cherry.
