For the love of peanut butter and chocolate, I had to create this recipe! These are the most amazing peanut butter brownies you could imagine.  Peanut butter fans, this one’s for you!  So much more than brownies with a peanut butter swirl or some peanut butter chips mixed in, this peanut butter brownie recipe has a full layer of creamy peanut butter frosting that is then topped with a rich melted chocolate ganache.

This easy brownie recipe goes well with a big cup of coffee or a glass of cold milk and has quickly become one of our family’s favorite recipes when we are craving a chocolate treat!

Peanut Butter Brownies Recipe Ingredients:

For the brownie layer:

  • Mix the brownie mix plus the ingredients that are listed on the box of brownie mix in a mixing bowl; this should yield a 9×13 pan – We like to use Ghiradelli Brownie Mix, it makes the most delicious, chewy brownies…it’s so good!

For the peanut butter filling:

  • Powdered sugar
  • Butter softened to room temperature – If you use unsalted butter, make sure you add some salt to the peanut butter mixture.
  • Creamy peanut butter, we like to use creamy natural peanut butter but any type will work
  • Heavy whipping cream

For the ganache:

  • Heavy whipping cream or you could use milk too
  • chocolate chips or you can use any good quality chocolate for this recipe.  Dark chocolate, milk chocolate…it’s all good!

How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies:

  • Preheat your oven to the temperature the brown box suggests.
  • In a large bowl mix up the brownie mix according to box directions.
  • Prep a 9×13″ pan with parchment paper or cooking spray.  Add the brownie mix to the prepared pan.
  • Bake the brownies according to the box directions.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool.
  • In a medium bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, add your powdered sugar, ½ cup butter, heavy cream, and peanut butter. Mix well with a stand mixer or an electric hand mixer with a whisk attachment.
  • Using an offset spatula or a spoon, spread the peanut butter mixture over the brownies in an even layer.
  • Stick the brownies into the fridge to cool for at least 30 minutes and up to 10 hours.
  • Melt together chocolate chips and remaining heavy whipping cream in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. You can also heat this in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring well every 20 seconds until the chocolate is melted, smooth, and shiny.
  • Spread the chocolate mixture over the brownies and peanut butter layer.
  • Stick it back in the fridge for at least 30 minutes cut it into small squares and ENJOY!
  • To store: place them in an airtight container and store in the fridge or cover the baking pan with aluminum foil or plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 7 days.
