I’m raising two little boys who love vehicles with all of their hearts. If one of our cars is at the mechanic they both get worried as if a loved one is in the hospital. They will ask questions like, “Will the black car be okay?” and “How soon will it be back home?”
Because of this true love, our house is filled with trucks, cars, and rescue vehicles of all sizes. Can any mamas out there relate?
We have had these “work yards” for years in our home. This activity is so simple and so inexpensive and it has kept our boys entertained for countless hours.

What you need for your construction site sensory tray
Macaroni or another similar pasta shape
Large cookie sheet
Construction vehicles, measuring cups, or scoops
Pour the pasta on the cookie sheet and let your kids enjoy! We just store our pasta in a ziplock bag and save it for the next time the kids want to play.
Seriously, it’s that easy!
I love playdough and kinetic sand but sometimes I want an activity that won’t make such a mess. The pasta is easier to clean up, won’t hurt the dog if she eats the pieces that fall, and it’s super frugal!
