Minty Gin Gin Fizz | A Gin Cocktail with Ginger Ale and Mint
A gin cocktail with mint, ginger ale, and fresh lime juice. This is a wonderful summer treat!

It’s getting hot outside, it’s time for a drink! School is out and we have been spending most days at our community pool and working through summer reading lists. The season for relaxation is here!
We made up this cocktail several years ago when we were out of tonic for our beloved G&T’s and a new favorite was born, a gin cocktail with mint and ginger. It’s been a huge hit with friends and family and it’s one of our favorite cocktail recipes to make on warm summer nights. J hates the name I came up with but I’m sticking to it because I think it’s cute! Minty (fresh mint) Gin (Ginger) Gin (Gin) Fizz (seltzer). This cocktail harmonizes the bold flavors of gin with the zing of ginger ale, the tanginess of lime, and the refreshing aroma of mint with a little fizz from the seltzer. It’s a perfect summer cocktail for any gin lover.
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces of good quality gin – like Hendricks
- 4 ounces of ginger ale
- 2 oz seltzer water or club soda
- Lime Juice- The juice of 1 lime
- 4-5 fresh mint leaves
- Ice cubes
- Lime slices and additional mint leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Step 1: Muddle the Mint
Take a cocktail shaker or a sturdy glass and add the fresh mint leaves. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently crush the mint leaves to release their oils and fragrance. This step will infuse your cocktail with the invigorating essence of mint.
Step 2: Add the Gin and Juice
Next, pour the gin and squeeze the juice of a lime into the cocktail shaker or glass with the muddled mint. The gin provides a robust base for the cocktail, while the lime juice adds a tangy and citrusy note, balancing the flavors.
Step 3: Shake or Stir
If using a cocktail shaker, fill it with ice cubes and securely close the lid. Vigorously shake the shaker for about 15-20 seconds to chill the ingredients and blend the flavors. Alternatively, if you don’t have a shaker, you can stir the ingredients together in the glass with a long spoon.
Step 4: Strain and Serve
Once the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, strain the cocktail into a tall glass filled with fresh ice cubes. The straining will remove any small mint pieces and ensure a smooth texture. Top the glass with ginger ale, which adds a pleasant effervescence and a touch of sweetness.
Step 5: Garnish and Enjoy
To elevate the presentation and aromatics of your cocktail, garnish it with a lime slice and a sprig of mint. The lime slice will add a pop of color, while the mint sprig will release its enticing fragrance with every sip. Take a moment to appreciate the visual appeal before indulging in the invigorating flavors of your creation.
The Minty Gin-Gin Fizz is a blend of botanical notes of gin, combined with zesty lime juice, and mint leaves that add a touch of freshness. It’s a simple and quick treat for summer!
Cocktail Variations:
Muddle some cucumber in the bottom of the glass for a Cucumber Mint Gin Fizz
Non-alcoholic version – Just omit the Gin and top the glass with a little bit of seltzer. Our kids love this one!
If you want an extra botanical twist add a little splash of elderflower liqueur and see how the flavor changes.
