When it comes to guacamole recipes, I have to admit I’m a bit of a purist. I like to mostly taste avocado with some seasonings and lime juice to enhance the flavor. Don’t get me wrong, if I’m at a restaurant or someone’s house and they are serving guacamole with huge chunks of tomato and onion in it, I still eat it HAPPILY and without complaint. Any guacamole is better than no guacamole. You can quote me on that! But this simple 5 ingredient guacamole recipe has everything I want or need, and it’s so fast and easy to make!

Are you team cilantro? Or are you not a big fan? It seems like you either love it or you hate it. Our whole family is in love with cilantro. If you are too, this recipe is for you! If you aren’t you can leave it out, but it adds a little extra freshness to the dish that I really love.

Put this guacamole on any kind of taco or Mexican dish you like to make at your house. Eat it as an appetizer with chips, or carrot sticks, (or a spoon. Hah!) No matter how you eat it you can’t go wrong! Just 5 simple ingredients, it couldn’t be easier!

The Best 5 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe

Creamy avocado seasoned with lots of lime, cilantro and smokey cumin.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings 6 people

Ingredients

  • 2 whole avocadoes
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 4 Tablespoons cilantro roughly chopped
  • pink Himalayan salt or sea salt to taste

Instructions

  • Remove the avocado pit and remove the flesh from the outer layer and place in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Mash the avocado lightly with a fork.
  • Finely dice the cilantro and add it to the bowl with the avocado along with the other seasonings and lime juice.
  • Mix and mash the ingredients until it is the consistency you prefer. Add salt to taste. Also, feel free to add any more lime juice if you prefer a brighter flavored guacamole.
  • Eat with chips, carrot sticks, cucumber, crackers, pretzels or on top of tacos or burritos.
