Half the Guilt Double Burger Topped with Spicy Sauce
This burger has it all! One beef patty and one veggie burger topped with a homemade spicy dipping sauce. This recipe also makes a great bunless burger if you want even less guilt!

I think a burger is the best meal in the world. Seriously. Any toppings will do. Cheese, bacon, barbeque sauce, mushrooms, onions, tomato, pickles…doesn’t matter…it’s allllll good. But don’t forget my side of fries, please!!
Have you ever tried putting a veggie burger on a beef burger? No? Well, my husband occasionally likes to put foods on top of other foods and try them. Sometimes he finds something delicious (often he doesn’t!) but friends, THIS IS IT. We like Dr. Praeger’s California Veggie Burgers the best. Top it with some homemade spicy burger sauce, grab a cold beer or seltzer, and this is a weekend treat!

These burgers are juicy, full of flavor, and loaded with a big slathering of spicy burger sauce. I like to top mine with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. My husband prefers a fried egg and extra sriracha. There is no wrong way, it’s all good!
How to Make Spicy Dipping Sauce
To make the spicy sauce for your burger, combine 4 tablespoons of ketchup, 2 tablespoons mayo, 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon paprika. Mix until well combined. Add more sriracha if you like your food extra spicy. Try dipping your fries in this too! I have a great recipe for crispy oven fries linked below. YUM!

These also turn out great on the grill. Just be aware that the veggie burgers might easily fall apart so flip them gently.
This is also one of my favorite bunless burger recipes. Try in on a couple of iceberg lettuce leaves with your favorite sauce, wrap it up and enjoy even less guilt!!
Half the Guilt Double Burger Topped with Spicy Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 Lb Ground Beef
- 1-2 tablespoons Burger Seasoning I use McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning or Kinders Buttery Steakhouse Seasoning
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 4 Frozen Veggie Burgers
- 4 Burger Buns or lettuce wraps
- Favorite Burger Toppings
Spicy Dipping Sauce
- 4 Tablespoon Mayonaise
- 2 Tablespoon Ketchup
- 1 Tablespoon Sriracha Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- In a bowl combine the ground beef, salt, pepper and steakhouse seasoning. Mix until well combined.
- Season the outside of the burgers with a little more salt and pepper. In a large cast-iron (or nonstick) pan heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil on medium-high heat until hot. Add the burger patties and cook for about 7 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Then transfer to a plate to rest.
Spicy Dipping Sauce
- While the burgers are cooking, whisk together the mayo, ketchup, sriracha, onion powder, and paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste if needed. Set aside.
- Add the veggie burgers to the hot cast iron skillet and cook on medium-high heat until they are warmed through and brown on the outside. Remove carefully and place ontop of the cooked beef burgers.
- If you want to toast the buns, do that now. Place them in the cast-iron skillet, side down until they are just brown. Remove.
- Now it's time to assemble the burger. Spread both sides of the buns or lettuce with the spicy burger sauce. Place one beef patty and one veggie patty on each bun. Top with your favorite toppings – lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles…whatever you like and top with the dressed top bun.
